This input module provides 16 single-ended input channels. When installed in hazardous locations, the power to the IC694ALG233 input module must be turned off before it is replaced or wired. Furthermore, the module should not be connected to or disconnected from a PLC unless the main system power has been switched off. The IC694ALG233 input module draws 120 milliamps of current from the +5 Volts DC bus on the system backplane. In addition to loop currents, the IC694ALG233 input module draws 65 milliamps of current from a 24 Volts DC rated external supply. The external voltage supply ripple which the IC694ALG233 input module can tolerate is 10%. The voltage range for the external supply is 20 to 30 Volts DC. The rated input low-pass filter response is 23 Hertz.

There are 16 channels total on the IC694ALG233 input module and each channel can be configured with the following input ranges: 0 to 20 milliamps, 4 to 20 milliamps enhanced, and 4 to 20 milliamps normal. High and low alarm limits can also be configured through software. For the 4 to 20 milliamps enhanced current range, a low alarm limit can be configured for the detection of an input current between 4 and 20 milliamps. This feature can be used to provide open-wire detection in 4 to 20 milliamps enhanced current rated applications. The IC694ALG233 input module also reports the module status and external power supply status to the system CPU by using the assigned program reference addresses. The IC694ALG233 input module can be installed in I/O slots that come with a serial connector. The IC694ALG233 input module supports hot removal and insertion. The firmware on the IC694ALG233 input module can be upgraded to enable new features.
